The app cannot be the only route in
A kiosk interface that works without a smartphone is not optional here. Any design that assumes an app is a design that excludes part of the building.
The mix shifts toward essentials and health
Everyday consumables, personal care and small household items dominate. Rentals skew toward occasional practical equipment rather than entertainment.
Staff time is the real saving
In communities with on-site staff, a great deal of informal time goes on fetching small things for residents. That is the cost line this displaces, and it is easier to evidence than most.
Stocked for these people
Everyday essentials and personal care, small household items, practical rentals such as cleaning equipment and hand tools, and a deliberately short, legible catalogue rather than a long one.
The catalogue here is judged on legibility before breadth. Anything a resident cannot identify at a glance is doing harm, so this list gets shorter before it gets longer.

Communities at assisted-living staffing levels, where a member of staff fetching the item is the better service and not the expensive one. Buildings with a stocked shop already inside them. Any site where accessible compartment heights cannot be met in the space available. In any of those, the honest recommendation is not us.
